customize a theme and database set-up
-
Hi,
I am doing a trial of WordPress because I want to utilize some of the built in functionality for a website I’m working on. I’m a web developer by trade and I am having trouble even locating the CSS pages to edit. I downloaded the WordPress app (I think) and in theory should allow me to modify and upload new CSS files but I can’t even get it installed because I have no idea where my database is or where you are hosting the site. I understand your platform is mostly for people that don’t know anything about programming but for someone who does, it’s very frustrating to not even be able to find the files to modify. Can you help?

Hi there,
On WordPress.com, you don’t actually edit the theme’s CSS file directly. Instead, you can add CSS to overwrite your theme’s default design from within your site’s customizer.
To get to the customizer, you can go to your My Blogs page and click the Customize link under your blog. Once the customizer opens, you can visit the CSS section to enter any CSS rules you’d like to use on the site.
We have additional tips for editing your theme’s CSS at WordPress.com here: Editing CSS
Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)
