customize menus

    I want to add some menu items on to my blog and I have watched the tutorial but the items shown on the tutorials (which are some of the menu items I want) do not appear as choices when I click on edit menu in my own blog. I do not seem to be able to add new menu titles either. How do I do this or can I not with Twenty Fourteen, although it does say ability to customize menus on the info? It is only allowing me to add – About and Home as the two options.

    Stop watching tutorials for WordPress.ORG blogs and start getting your how-to’s from http://support.wordpress.com/, which is instructions for WordPress.COM blogs like your own.

    Pages will not appear as options to add to your menu until they already exist. For category pages, that means that you’ve used the category in at least one post and the post is published, not a draft.
