Dara Theme: Thumbnails are cropped

    I’m using Dara theme for my eCommerce and I can’t seem to get the thumbnail images to stop being cropped. It’s particularly noticeable on the shoes page. The thumbnails are cropped but when you click on them to go to the product page, the image is fine. I want the thumbnails to be a scaled down full image.

    Hi there,

    It’s not possible to change this, no. This theme center-crops featured images, both on the front page thumbnails, but also depending on the screen size a site is viewed at. That cropping happens when the image is fetched from the media library and is not controlled by CSS only after the image is loaded, so it’s also not possible to override it using CSS. To change this you’d have to modify how the theme itself works.

    That can be done using a child theme, but we do not provide support for creating child themes on WordPress.com:

    You might want to consider using a theme specifically created for eCommerce instead, like the Storefront theme that comes pre-installed with your plan.
