Dashboard version

When I started using wordpress.com blog the dashboard used to work fine. Something has obviously changed since and the dashboard I now get is primitive. For example the tag part of the posting is a separate unit in a drop down box whereas in the latest version it is integral to the post.
The menu for inserting multimedia is now on top right of the posting whereas it is a separate unit under the posting in the latest dashboard.
It may be the previous version of the dashboard I am now getting. How do I get back to the latest version?

I think you may be getting things backwards. If the colours look paler and your dashboard has the stats right on the front page now, you’ve got the latest dashboard. It’s brand-new. There are a million threads about it all over the forums, so take a look around.

Yes I had read them but was unable to identify the version number of my dashboard. Thanks raincoaster for your help.
