Dead Webpage Using WordPress – Removal or Deletion of Article from the Database
-
Dear WP Team and Forum Members,
I hope you are doing well.
I would like to publish my article titled ‘Religious Fundamentalism: Causes & Remedies’ in an authenticated academic journal. However, when I checked plagiarism of this article through turnitin (TII) software, it shows that the whole article (99%) is present on the following website “https://science-islam.net/”. My name also appears on the website along with the article on the TII software. However, I neither posted this article on this website nor I gave permission to them to publish it. Interestingly, the search engine of the website does not show it; however, the TII software does detect it. It seems as if the WordPress (WP) domain of the website is either hacked or expired or dead or the owner has failed to pay for the subscription fee. It could be a technical error.
When I contacted the TII Help desk, they replied:

Hi Dr. Fazlur,
Thank you for contacting Turnitin Technical Support. Please accept our apologies for the delay in responding to you as we are currently experiencing a high volume of support cases.
I understand from your email that when attempting to submit your paper for publication, it returned a 99% Similarity Score with a submission made to the site: https://science-islam.net/. You also explained that this paper is not searchable on the site’s search bar. It would seem that the paper has been submitted to the site at some point in the past and has since been removed. The submission will still be stored in the Turnitin repository.
In order to have this submission permanently deleted from the repository, you will need to contact the site: https://science-islam.net/ and request them to permanently delete the submission. Once we have been contacted by the publication, we can permanently delete the submission.
If you need additional assistance with this case, please reply to this email.
Kind regards,Turnitin Technical Support

TII have figured out the problem probably right. However, the solution to the problem is beyond my domain. The reason is that the said website is dead (https://science-islam.net/) and do not exist anymore. It seems as if the website was developed using WordPress domain and has expired henceforth. When you click on the website, instead of opening the webpage, it directs to the sample page of WordPress. There is no way to contact or reach out to the administrators who developed this website. As I do not have any link or relation to the website or the administrators of the website; therefore, it is not possible to request them for deletion or any further action on my end. However, I have a ‘Certificate of Publication’ that this article belongs to me. The certificate was issued on 05/12/2005. Also, I have images of the hard copy of the journal from 2005. Certainly, I reserve the right of publication or reproduction as this is my original work. If anyone published or reproduced this work without my permission, and later the website is dead/expired, administrators of the webpage are not reachable, then the WordPress Team should intervene and should delete it to resolve the issue. The date when this material was put on the webpage of the said website could also be confirmed from WordPress (if possible). Indeed, a publication or reproduction of work post-issuance of a certificate is in violation of the author’s rights (as mentioned on the certificate).
I will appreciate if you could remove it from your search engine or guide for a solution. Any other suggestion in this regard would be appreciated. It is my original written work and I do not want to let it go wasted or fall prey to any predator website. Remember, the article does not appear in its search bar of the said website and the webpage (https://science-islam.net/) is dead and redirects to WordPress Sample page.
I will be grateful for your help.
Kind regards
Dr. Fazlur Rahman

Unfortunately we can’t help as that site isn’t running on the wordpress.com platform but uses the open source wordpress.org. As it uses Cloudflare it’s almost impossible to find the hosting.
You could try to report that site at https://www.cloudflare.com/abuse/ -
