    Hi,

I created a blog example123.wordpress.com and then I realized that I can’t create a new account with the username example123. If I delete the blog, would I be able to create an account with that name?

No you won’t and by deleting the blog example123.wordpress.com, you would lock that domain for any further use.

You can change your username or your display name to whatever you want as long that name isn’t or hasn’t been registered already.

OK, so if I change my username I’m losing the old one forever but f I don’t example123 can never be used?

    I have a related question:
The author archive URL is blog.wordpress.com/author/username/

Can I have an author on my blog that is not tied to a WordPress.com account? Is it possible to add a team member so his archive would be blog.wordpress.com/author/example123/

    Hi there!

    Yes, that is correct.

Can I have an author on my blog that is not tied to a WordPress.com account? Is it possible to add a team member so his archive would be blog.wordpress.com/author/example123/

It’s not possible to do so on a free WordPress.com site since all users (authors, administrators, or any other user type) must have a WordPress.com account and need to be invited to the site by following these steps:

    WP
    Invite People to Your Site
    in WordPress.com Support

This guide will explain how you can invite other contributors to work on your website with you using the Users area of your WordPress.com dashboard. Instead of giving someone your username and password (which would be a security risk), you can invite them to create their own user account on your site and grant different levels of permission depending on what you want the person to be able to do

    Hope that helps!
