delete domain

    I think I’ve created a DNS re-direct loop.

I’m trying to get *.thirdkey.solutions to redirect (CNAME) to thirdkey.wordpress.com from my own DNS servers.

I do not want to delegate DNS to wordpress DNS servers, because I want to retain control over other subdomains.

I’ve setup thirdkey.solutions as an alias domain in wordpress and it seems it is re-directing the thirdkey.wordpress.com back to thirdkey.solutions causing a redirection loop. I can’t delete thirdkey.solutions from wordpress to fix this.

    Can you help?

  • What is the exact subdomain that you are trying to map?

I am trying to map all subdomains:

    *.thirdkey.solutions

    to thirdkey.wordpress.com

    .solutions is a gTLD.

    I’m also trying to map:

    *.thirdkeysolutions.com

    to thirdkey.wordpress.com

Both of the domains are managed on my own DNS servers and I want to continue to manage them there. I have therefore created CNAME entries redirecting both those domains to the thirdkey.wordpress.com domain name.

Unfortunately, it appears that thirdkey.wordpress.com is redirecting back to thirdkey.solutions, creating a DNS loop. I can’t even access thirdkey.wordpress.com dircetly, it just hangs.

  • Understood.

I’m afraid that WordPress.com does not support wildcard mapping.

  • I’m happy to refund that Domain Mapping upgrade or help you switch it to a specific subdomain.

I need someone from WordPress support to delete the mapping on the wordpress side that is causing a loop, making it impossible for me to access the site. I can then figure out the rest myself.

I cannot delete a custom domain from within wordpress, the dashboard says “contact wordpress support”

  • I have deleted that for you and reset the domain credit on the WordPress.com Premium upgrade.
