Delete really old WordPress-page (can't proof ownership in the offered 3 ways)

  • Unknown's avatar

    Dear WordPress Team,

I started a WordPress blog with my Login at that time more than ten years ago, but I last updated it about eight years ago. It’s about the following site: https://meyelloening.wordpress.com/

Since it’s been a very long time and I haven’t used the account in the meantime either, I unfortunately don’t know my data anymore. I have seen that there are three ways to provide proof. Unfortunately, the corresponding proofs were sent to e-mail accounts at that time, which have not existed for many years.

Can the page simply be deleted? Gladly I’d send you other data about my person. Since the page is about me, I could easily prove that I am the person on the page. And I know with what E-Mail-adress I had entered at that time.

I would be very happy if you could help me. Of course I am at your disposal for further inquiries.

    Thank you very much!
    Meyel Löning

That site is connected to another account of yours https://wordpress.com/forums/users/meyelloening/.
Log out from current wordpress.com account meyelloening63650d2c8b and log in again as meyelloening; you can change the password with ‘Forgot password’.
Et voila, you have full access to your site https://meyelloening.wordpress.com/

  • Hi @meyelloening63650d2c8b

We are not able to help here in the support forums, as verifying account ownership requires us to ask you to provide info that is best not shared in this public venue.

With this in mind, please fill out this form here to the best of your ability: https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery

This will send all the info you have to our account recovery team, and from there they will contact you directly to assist you in regaining access to the account that owns the site you are trying to access.

Note: If you do not have the proofs asked for in that form, you can choose the Transaction ID and enter a random string of numbers to allow you to send the form.

    Hello Jerry,

thanks for your answer. Unfortunately I can’t send the form as suggested, it says “The receipt does not appear to be valid”.

Beside random numbers I also tried the Transaction ID from the example in the support link.

Do you have a number combination I could enter?

  • Hello there,

Do you have a number combination I could enter?

Yes, there is a pattern with Transaction IDs. Please see this helpful guide here https://wordpress.com/support/billing-history/#on-your-credit-card-statement on how to retrieve that information.

    I hope this helps.

Unfortunately, this doesn’t help because I haven’t made any transactions (at least not knowingly) and consequently can’t retrieve any proper data on them.

That’s why I had asked for a number combination that I can use to get further in the document.

Your colleague had advised the following to get around this problem:

“Note: If you do not have the proofs asked for in that form, you can choose the Transaction ID and enter a random string of numbers to allow you to send the form.”

But this strategy with the random string of numbers didn’t work.

    Thank you for your efforts!
