Deleted domain and its now unavailable to register anywhere

    I was originally using wordpress for a client, however they wanted to change to another website builder themselves and work on it personally.
    I had registered the domain name here on wordpress (billysfooderie.com) and had cancelled it. The domain name cannot be registered anywhere elsewhere now.

    How do I get access to the domain name? I really need to use the same webaddress. The client will only use this address (billysfooderie.com) and I need to make sure they can use it.

    Hi there,

    Cancelled domains are not released immediately, and it can take anything from a few days to over a year before a cancelled domain becomes available again, if at all. You should never cancel a domain that you still want to use, as there’s no guarantee that you’ll be able to use it again somewhere else in future. You should only cancel a domain if you’re completely sure you no longer want it at all.

    If your client wanted to use the domain somewhere else, all they had to do was transfer it. Then they would never have lost ownership of it.

    At this point the domain has already entered redemption, but we can still restore. However, we can only do it at the request of the account that originally bought it, so please ask your client to comment on this thread to confirm and then we can get that process started for them.
