Deleted old URL and want to use the same one again but told that it already exists?

  Hi all, I deleted my old blog a while back so the site address/URL was no longer in use. I know this to definitely be the case as when I type the web address into the search bar, I get the message ‘the authors have deleted this site’. I have recently decided to restart a new blog with the same site address, but I keep getting the message ‘Sorry, that site already exists’ when it clearly doesn’t. Is this a blip in the system or is there something I can do/did I not delete my blog properly?

  “Already exists” regarding a deleted URL can be interpreted to mean “already existed.” Either way, you won’t be able to use it again. See https://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/.
