Deleted URL name
-
I created a URL about a year ago and deleted it pretty much straight away because I couldn’t get it to look right and wanted to start over. However that URL wasn’t available again, will the URL I used ever be available again?
It was my name and need to use a blog URL with my name for part of my university course, does anyone know how to get the URL back? The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

There is no need to delete a site to “start over”. You should have just emptied the site of content or set the site to private until you were ready to try again. A site deleted that long ago is not recoverable. (There have recently been changes which allow sites to be recovered by staff if they had been deleted less than 30 days. After that point a site address is gone forever).

There was no content on the site, it was only the layout that I had started. I don’t want to recover the site just want to be able to use the URL that I once had?

If you’re definitely talking about a site with the suffix .wordpress.com then this support doc
says:It is possible to reverse a site deletion for the first 30 days after a site is closed. If you realize you closed your site in error, please contact us immediately. We will be able to assist you in restoring your site during this 30 day window. Once the 30 days have passed, all of your site data is purged and cannot be restored, and the site address is deleted and cannot be reused.
You could perhaps upgrade your current free site to a paid plan and then add a custom domain of your choice ending with a different suffix to .wordpress.com.
