  Since you are moving your domain why not buy the domain forwarding option to send traffic from your old sit to your new site for a year – that will help search engines move their ranking to your new site

  If you delete you old site your old visitors will just hit a wall and you have no options for helping them if you delete the site – you could also set all the old Posts to private which would give a 404 page not found error but you could leave a message at your home page about the move.
