Deleting a domain
-
I previously bought a domain on GoDaddy, but it telling me I must wait 30 days. I wanted to go ahead a begin working on the website creation so I opened up a site on WordPress. I then noticed I could do the domain mapping for my issue, to use my original bought domain name. I wanted to access the free version of WordPress until I had my whole website design, but I having trouble getting that switched without paying. I was going to close my account, and then it said I would be able to make a new one using my same email for 30 days. And I used my business email, which is the one I would like to keep it connected to it. Is there a way to fix this? Or am I stuck waiting 30 days anyways?

Hi jannettc,

Which domain have you purchased from GoDaddy?
When you say they have asked you to wait 30 days, is your intention to transfer the domain to WordPress.com? Or would you like to keep the domain registered with GoDaddy and connect it to WordPress.com with domain mapping?

We provide the option to create a free site using an containing .wordpress.com. Custom domains and domain mapping are only available through paid plans, which is why you are being asked to upgrade. However, you can start adding content and customising the free site until you are ready to add a custom domain to the site — and which point, you will need to upgrade.
was going to close my account
Can you tell me why you wanted to close your account? New sites can be created in the same account and updating the email address on the Account Settings page will free it up for use on another account.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
