Deleting account

  • Unknown's avatar

I would like to delete my account with the username swelldesign. I don’t even remember creating it, but realized that it existed when I tried to link my email address to my other active WordPress account. I know that I can just change the email associated with swelldesign to free it up to use with my other WordPress account, but I would like to delete the account all together since I don’t plan to ever use it. Thank you.

  • Hey there,

If you are sure you no longer want to use your Gravatar, you can:

    * Log in to your account at Gravatar.com.
    * Go to the Gravatar image in the upper right, click Edit My Profile, and remove all data and photos except the account name and an email address.
    * Then click “View Profile” and click the link that says “Hide My Profile.” This will make your account appear as though it has been deleted, but you will still have access.

If you want to go a step further, you can create a throwaway email address and add it to the account, change the primary email to that throwaway address, then remove your real email address. This leaves only the username behind, and we only keep that name so no one can reuse it.

Please note that while your information will no longer be associated with an active WordPress.com or Gravatar account, a record of your information still exists on our servers from the date you originally signed up. We’ll also maintain a record of your username in order to ensure that another user doesn’t register it in the future (which would cause confusion for everyone).

Any comment subscriptions you might have are managed at WordPress.com, and you can access that here:
