Deleting accounts
-
I’ve strolled through some forum posts and such, and I understand that it’s impossible to delete your wordpress account, but I was wondering why that is?
I’m not a coder, nor do I have extensive WP knowledge – I’m a casual user, but I’m curious as to why WP doesn’t let its users delete their accounts? Is it a complicated process to do so? – like one that costs time/money?
I think it would be reassuring to WP users to know that they have the right to terminate their account – even if it accomplishes “nothing”. I’ve read that you can change all of your info and just leave you account inactive, but isn’t that worse for you guys? Don’t these accounts take up space on your server?
If there have been a lot of these threads posted already, I apologize. I’d be happy to chat about this over e mail if possible?

I agree that you should be able to delete accounts. There have been a few addresses I’ve wanted that people have taken, posted once and then let the blog go dormant. Surely, those should be deleted after a certain period or the person should be asked if they’d like to delete it.

It has to do with the way that things are structured, and even when you ask places to delete your account, I do not believe it is actually deleted. It is just set to inactive. All the data is still there, just hidden away.
