DirectNic domain redirect not working

I have a domain registered with DirectNic (wendyandthejamesgang.com). It used to be a separate site hosted at 5 Dollar Hosting, but we closed down the site and wanted to redirect the URL to wendyjames.com, which is a WordPress.com site where we have purchased domain mapping for wendyjames.com and its subdomains.

I used a CNAME record in DirectNic’s DNS to redirect wendyandthejamesgang.com to wendyjames.com, and it’s been working for several months until now. When I visit wendyandthejamesgang.com, I get this error message:

“Warning! Domain mapping upgrade for this domain not found. Please log in and go to the Domains Upgrades page of your blog to use this domain. “

Why is the redirect not working all of a sudden? I don’t want wendyjames.com to be hosted at wendyandthejamesgang.com as well, I just want it to redirect as it did previously, so there should not be a need to purchase a domain mapping upgrade. (We pay WordPress roughly $50/yr for domains across 5 sites.)

I called DirectNic support, and they said my settings were correct on the DNS side, it is a WordPress issue.

    Thanks for the help :).
