Directorist Integration With WP
-
Hi all, newbie here, sorry for any ignorant questions, but just started with this. First thing I did was in Directorist. Set up categories and a couple listings. All good. Then, watched the WP tutorial (first one so far), and designed my homepage with theme, etc, via the “Appearance/Editor” in WP. The categories and listings I made initially in Directorist don’t seem to be applying to the homepage I built in WP. What am I doing wrong, and how can I make changes in Directorist and have them reflect on the homepage (so far the only page I’ve built in that app) of what I built in WP? Thanks in advance. Dave

Hi Dave! That’s a great question, and it’s a common point of confusion when getting started with a new plugin.
When you create categories and listings inside Directorist, they’re stored in the plugin’s own system. However, they won’t automatically show up on your homepage — you’ll need to add Directorist’s blocks or shortcodes to the page where you want them to appear.
Here’s the general idea of how to do that:- Open your homepage in the Editor (the same place you’ve been designing it).
- Click the + button to add a new block.
- Search for “Directorist” — you should see blocks provided by the plugin (e.g., for displaying listings, categories, or a search bar).
- Add the block you’d like, and it should pull in the content you’ve already created in Directorist.
Since Directorist is a third-party plugin (not made by WordPress.com), their team is the best resource for detailed, step-by-step guidance on getting everything configured just right. Here are some helpful links:
