Discover theme – centering menu text

  I’m having a heck of a time trying to center the menu text in my nav bar here. I tried the same trick I used to center the logo, but no dice – I can’t seem to get anything to work, even just when fiddling around in a browser editor. As far as I can understand, it’s because there isn’t a defined width? But I haven’t found any CSS mods that can solve the problem either way.

  Also, as an addendum; is it possible to extend the menu background so it crosses the whole page horizontally like the footer?
