Display Name Change

  I want to change my display name but I’m worried about the knock-on consequences. Is there anything I should be watching out for?

  I assume that when the name changes it will change everywhere that I have ever posted. Is this correct? Or will it only be new posts that show the change?

  I ask because when I changed name elsewhere I immediately lost all my contacts. Just want to check there’s no similar problems with a name change here.

  When you change the display name, the old comments and posts you made do not change to reflect that. There are two ways to change display name: just adding a “nickname” and then selecting that from the drop-down list, or actually going ahead and fundamentally changing it. If you do the latter, you can NEVER go back, so I don’t recommend it.

  If I add a nickname does that mean I can choose between names with each post and comment? Or is it a default that requires resetting globally to one name?
