DNS and Nameserver change – godaddy host
-
hi – I am trying to point a domain registered with wordpress.com to a hosting package at a different site. I updated the Nameservers, but the domain does not update .. So then updated the DNS to the DNS of the hosting site but it turns out i need to set the nameservers to the wordpress NS to use the DNS editor..? I have spent days on this and seem to be getting nowhere. would you mind helping me correct the NS and DNS or let me know if i need to correct one or the other or both?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If you want to use nameservers, you would change the NS to point to your host. If you want to use an A-Record, you would leave the nameservers as WordPress.com nameservers and set up an A-Record to point to your host’s IP address.
If you’d like, I can try setting the nameservers for you. What are they?

thank you so much
The DNS should be 23.229.154.160
The nameservers should be ns13.domaincontrol.com and ns14.domaincontrol.com -
I am going to try just setting the nameservers and not the IP. If that doesn’t work, we can do it the other way around.

I think the changes have fed down but now the DNs is pointing back to WordPress.com instead of the new host …

Okay, just to double check, the nameservers you gave me were the ones directly from GoDaddy when you initially got your hosting information, correct? They werent’ listed in a different support thread anywhere were they?
The reason I ask is that GD has many many nameserver pairs. And typically, only the pair that they gave you initially will work.

I’m still running into issues with this. I’m going to try something else, but can you double check that nameserver info please?
This is from the “Setting Nameservers for a Domain Name Registered Elsewhere and Hosted with Us” section of http://support.godaddy.com/help/article/664/setting-nameservers-for-your-domain-names
If you registered your domain name with another registrar but are hosting it with us, it must use our nameservers. We send you an email that lists your nameservers when you set up your hosting account. If you do not have your name servers, you can find them in your hosting account. For more information, see Finding Your Hosted Domain’s Nameservers.

The name servers are ns13.domaincontrol.com and ns14.domaincontrol.com
According to Whois, the name servers are still set to WordPress…. -
ok this is what they say
Dean –
Ok. thank you for holding. In this particular instance it is not possible to change the nameservers to ours until you can actually transfer the domain to us after June 3. In the meantime then you must use their nameservers and update the A record in their zone file to show the hosting IP address. We don’t have any other way to set this up currently.
Dean –
23.229.154.160
Dean –
They need to look at the zone file because something is not right. The error shown mentions the correct servers not being located which typically refers to the zone file not having their nameservers listed in it.
Dean –
Just tell them that currently we must keep using THEIR nameservers
Dean –
And have them reset/refresh/reconcile the zone file in their system. -
Yes, change back to their nameservers BUT, follow up with them and ask them to make sure the zone file is healthy in their system.
