DNS mapping

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi there, I had one of my domains mapped to WordPress.com, and due to new changes in our organization, we wanted to cancel this DNS mapping to WordPress com. I was assisted by a member of the wordpress team to do this yesterday, unfortunately, we are still unable to use our domain, as the mapping is still pointing to WordPress.com

I would be most grateful if you could please delete this mapping ASAP, so that we can continue our business as usual. Thank you.

  • Hi there,

Your domain’s name servers are not pointed to us any more, and we have no control over your domain at all.

If your domain is still taking you to WordPress.com it’s one of two things:

    1) Name server changes can take up to 72 hours to update. During that time the domain might not work correctly.

    2) Your browser stores information like where a domain connects to so it doesn’t have to look up that information each time you type in the domain. So your browser could still be taking you to WordPress.com because it still thinks the domain is hosted here, and hasn’t checked if the location of your site has changed. Clear your browser cache, and the browser will be forced to look up the new information on your domain and should then take you to the correct place.
