DNS with go daddy

My domain is with GoDaddy and that includes the name servers. What IP must I add for the www A record in the DNS setting for my site on wordpress to display correctly?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • The best way to map a domain to a WordPress.com blog is to set your domain’s nameservers to the following values:

    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

However, if your registrar requires that you create A records, please note that our IPs change over time. Because of this, your domain might stop working at some point in the future. If that happens, please get in touch with us to find out the most current IPs and then update your A records accordingly.

If you still want to go ahead and map your domain using A records, please be sure to create at least two, pointing to two different IPs from the list below:
    192.0.80.250
    76.74.254.120
    66.155.11.238
    192.0.81.250
    76.74.254.123
    66.155.9.238

I will try the ip’s, but I will definitely not move the name servers. Will this work for a mapped domain as well as the default subdomain?

I’m not sure that I understand what you are asking. Can you rephrase?

If I create the www A record for my wordpress domain will it only work if I map my own.com domain? or will it work for my own.wordpress.com domain? I addd the Ip’s to an A record on the domain , bit it did not seem to work

  • When you have a mapped domain, your wordpress.com domain is automatically forwarded to your mapped domain. So as long as your mapped domain is pointing correctly, everything will work the way you are wanting it to.

I tried this, but it did not help. I surmise one needs to purchase the mapped domain add on. The domain is with GoDaddy and they have a forwarder option I am going to try

  • I would not use the forwarder option myself, in general it doesn’t work as well as most people want. I think if you search the forums, you’ll find that most people’s experience with using a forwarder option is negative and they find the Domain Mapping to be a much better option.

Different strokes for different folks however, and it may work fine for you.
