Do I need a paid domain/URL , BEFORE buying ".com" on my free blog?

  I already have a FREE WordPress blog (SMEBrandLeverage.wordpress.com) under my (email visible only to moderators and staff) email address. I want to open another FREE blog (free at this time, but upgradable after some testing of the waters). My question is, eventhough I do not yet have a website or domain at this time, can I go ahead and pay/sign up for a ” .com” blog address at this time and secure my domain name later? OR …do I have to already have paid for a domain (but not set up a website with that URL), before I can use ” .com” for my free blog?

  Yes. Set up your WordPress.com site and you can add a custom domain later on if you decide to.
