Do I need new account to become “author” to friends’ blog

  Hi

  I currently have an account with WordPress. Some friends would like to add me as an “author” to their blog. They send me an invite but this requires me to create a new account. I don’t wish to have a new account. I would like to become an author using my current account. I like my username.

  So, is it possible for my friends to add me as “author” to their blog using my current account?

  He just needs to send the invitation to the same email address as is registered with your identity, I believe. Has he sent it to a different email?

  Thank you.

  I did get the invitation sent to the same email address as registered with my identity, but unfortunately it didn’t work. I’ve asked for another invite so I will try it again.

  In the earlier email there was a link which I clicked. That then took me to a page that was to set up a new account, if I recall correctly. Anyway I’ll give it another go now and see if there is something I’m doing wrong :)

  That’s probably the WordPress.com main page. Since you’ve got an account already, sign in and then go to that particular blog. See if you can get to the Dashboard of that blog; try going to http://thatparticularblog.wordpress.com/wp-admin . You should be able to get right to the dashboard of that site.

  I’m a little more confused: I find I can log in and edit my blog, but that when I go to http://www.rickk.net/ and try to log in s.t. I can leave feedback, I am told ‘Wrong Username!’

  Who knew? And I see I get to delve into the .css to see where the method.put happens….
  Did I choose my username poorly or something else…?

  No: the problem is, you’re asking in the wrong forums. These are for blogs hosted by WordPress.com. Instructions for independent WordPress blogs are found at WordPress.org. Your WordPress.com identity will not be your WordPress.org identity unless you’ve specially made them that way. Logging in here will not get you into that blog.
