Do I own another blog?

  My current blog address is dogwithblog.wordpress.com which I set up in July 2008. I now have other sites, online shops and gift range labelled Dog with A Blog and was looking to set up dogwithablog.wordpress.com and export my current blog URL to it (I know I can’t just amend the URL name) – The A makes a big difference in SEO and marketing!!

  However, dogwithablog.wordpress.com was taken in April 2008 (you can see online), but has never been used. I think I set up this blog URL but entered wrong email address so the link to confirm never arrived. I then set up dogwithblog instead and carried on regardless.

  Anywho….question is, how do I find out if dogwithablog.wordpress.com is mine if I can’t remember username? (I have a good idea what password and email should have been though)

  Hello there,
  In order to help you get access to your blog Staff need one of the following things in order to correctly identify you as the blog owner:

  1. an email from the email address associated with the account or revealing what that associated email address was

  2. the wordpress.com API key for your account. This was included in your welcome email with a note to keep it safe. Please do not post the API key here.

  3. if you have purchased any upgrades for the blog a transaction number send it to the email address I posted above.

  As you will need Staff help I have flagged this thread for their attention. Please be patient while waiting for a response.

  Thanks very much for the response Time, I will await a response from a staff member.

  The main issue I have is that I think I signed up for the blog URL and mis-spelt my email address so the 3 points you raise above cannot be confirmed as I do not remember how I mis-spelt the email address; therefore I never received the welcome email with API key as I had given an invalid address ;-((

  http://dogwithablog.wordpress.com/ was registered in 2008, and the user did activate the account via email, so it was a valid address. The email address on the account is quite different from yours.

  We do not reuse or reassign blog names on WordPress.com.

  If you like, you can attempt to contact the owner of that blog and ask them if they would like to transfer it to you. You can do this by either leaving them a message using a contact form if it exists, or leaving a comment on an existing page or post requesting they contact you.

  If you are able to reach the blog owner and they are willing to transfer the blog to you, here are the instructions they can use to do that.

  If they do not respond or refuse the transfer, you will need to select a different name for your WordPress.com blog.
