Do Visitors include bots as well as unique visitors by a person/IP Address
-
Hi,
My Google Analytics numbers do not even remotely mesh with my visitors on my WordPress Stats. I know that bots crawl my website regularly and was wondering if wordpress includes the bot numbers as visits & views, or if they are not something that is addd to views & unique visits? The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there!
I this the site you’re asking about:
http://oakvillenews.wordpress.com/
We don’t support Google Analytics, so I’m not sure how you’re seeing Google Analytics numbers for your site. If you give me some more information about the numbers, and how you’re accessing them, I can take a look at the discrepancies.

Thanks! We do not count bots or other search engine crawlers in your WordPress.com stats. We also do not count visits from your logged in account.
There’s also a difference between views and visitors. One visitor may view several pages on your site. For example a reader who lands on your home page, goes to your about page, then reads a blog post. This would result in one visitor, but three views.
Does that clarify things? Let me know if you have more questions about our stats.
