Does anybody work at WordPress?
-
I am new to WordPress and building my website. I have a number of questions and I realize that I need to have a paid option to have online support, but which one? $8, $25? For example, I am not a CSS programmer, and I read some of the support answers with code that I have no idea where I would insert them. Is WordPress right for me? Are there other sites that are easier to use for Newbies? Is anyone out there? Hello?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
Can you please tell us what exactly you’d like to do?
You only need CSS if you want to be able to override the way your site’s theme is designed to look, and you can get live chat support even on our cheapest Personal Plan, if that’s all you’re after.
I recommend you first work through our tutorial at https://learn.wordpress.com/ and become familiar with the way WordPress.com works. Then, once you know what you want to do, you’ll know which plan will suit your particular needs for your site.

Kokkieh,
Thank you for your reply and for the link. I have gone through the different steps and found a number of things to be new and useful. The thing I was struggling through was the font color for Page Titles and Site Title. They are black and I am trying to use a custom banner that is dark in color, and would want to change it to a lighter color.
I did a search on how to change the color and found some CSS code that might do that, but could not find any place that looked similar when I did an “Inspect Object” for either Title.
The link you provided does talk about customizing, and being able to change font and background colors and have used those for different things I have been trying, but they do not apply to Titles from what I see.

Oh, I did want to note as well, if you’ll click on the colors/backgrounds section, you do get a few “palette” options that are free with your theme. Perhaps one of those will work for you?
-
I have a Business plan and got it because I wanted to use the OceanWP Plugin, but that turned out to be a disaster. I still have it, but am thinking of changing to Premium because I am now trying to work within an available Theme. Not sure if both of those support CSS.
I am currently using “Natural” and it is somewhat better, but still not providing what I want. The font color for the Site Title is white, so that is better, but the font size is HUGE, and as a result the last word is cut and the remainder of the word is on the next line and makes no sense.
Can you help with how to reduce the font size of the Site Title?
And to your point about “palettes” there are no color/background options for a Title unless I am missing something.
-
Oh! Is this for https://sdmatech2com.wordpress.com/ instead? On that site you do have CSS support, and can control the title like so:
#header .site-title { font-size: 3em; }You can set colors and what not, too.
The palettes on free sites like sdmatech.wordpress.com don’t have title-specific settings, but they do have schemes will lighten the title for you so it doesn’t have to be black against a dark background.

Yea! Progress! Thank you. Yes it is on sdmatech2com.wordpress.com.
Okay, next. I am using the Natural Theme with three column portfolios. The first is “Home”, and when you click on “Learn More” nothing happens because of a permalink (I sound like I know what I am doing, but I don’t). So I created another Home page and I can link to the actual Home page, but I cannot get back to the first, static, page you land on when you first enter the site. I can get to other pages but never back to the three column portfolio page.
-
Actually what I just wrote is wrong. I can get from the static landing page to my full Home page only by clicking the Home button in the Menu. I can get from the other portfolio boxes by clicking the “Learn More” bar in the other boxes. It seems the Home portfolio box is always permalinked.
I would still like to go from the box to the page, and still be able to get back to the static landing page from other pages.

Great, thanks. Can you let me know what page the middle box should link to? Just send a link and I’ll help you sort it out.
About the menu being broken, yeah I can see there are some issues there. You can edit it via My Site > Customize > Menus. Pick Location, and edit your main menu there.
Remove the home link and re-add it.
This video should help:

Noting too if you need help with the menu, get in touch via chat; our team there can help you sort that out pretty quickly:

With a business plan, you really only ever need to use the forums for more advanced CSS stuff. :)

Thanks. Sorry.
Here is the link. Do you want me to get Chat to help instead of you? Again, thanks for what you did.

Hi Supernova, is there anyone at WordPress who could get in touch with me via this forum topic or email? I’m unable to access my dashboard, pages, etc. as well as chat via the WordPress website. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/is-wordpress-down-11/ Thank you!
