Does WordPress archive contents of an individuals site if it financially lapses

Aproximately 3 or 4 years ago I set up a site with WordPress to house material I had researched over several years on River Steamers in Tasmania. Unfortunately I did not complete the site nor publish the material before I started a series of blackouts caused by damage to my brain, this was also accompanied by memory loss. Having spent some time in a private nursing home I am currently well enough to restart my project. Only to find that all my research was committed to the website. To start again would require research on such a level that I could not undertake it. Any advice you can offer would be wellcome.

A wordpress.com website stays online “for ever”. If you had a paid plan and it expired, your site automatically falls back to the Free Plan. Just log in to the account connected to that site and you have access to your site.
If your website is using the open source wordpress.org, we can’t help you as wordpress.com and wordpress.org are two completely different systems.
You could also take a look at https://archive.org/web/, perhaps the Wayback Machine hs crawled your site.
