  If you leave the domain with the domain registrar, this can be connected as per: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/connect-existing-domain/

  This can take up to 72 hours to complete.

  Transferring the domain ( https://en.support.wordpress.com/incoming-domain-transfer/ ) can take from 5 to 10 days to complete.
