  Hey,

  I wanted to renew my domain that was registered through you all.
  It is http://www.shannybreakitdown.com
  I wanted to see when the drop off date that it would be released so that I could purchase again as well as the cost of what it would be to purchase right now.

  Hi there,

  The domain, shannybreakitdown.com, is currently in redemption with our registrar. It’s still possible for us to get it back at this point, but our registrar charges a $80 fee to restore a domain from redemption so you’ll need to pay that as well as the regular renewal cost of $26 to get the domain back.

  The other option is to wait until they release the domain and hope no one buys it at that point before you are able to. Note that if someone else buys the domain first when it is released, they’ll be the new owner and you’ll have no way to get it back, and I don’t recommend this option – I’ve seen too many people lose their domains this way.

  I cannot tell you exactly when the domain will be released, as we don’t control that process. The best I can do is that it should be in around five to six weeks’ time.

  I don’t mind paying the fee. can you please take me through the process of retrieving my domain.

  I’ve sent you a payment link via email. Once we receive payment I can contact our registrar to restore the domain.

  I’ll also need you to please create a new free site in your account, so I can attach the domain to the site once it’s restored. The domain needs to be attached to a site for you to have access to its settings.

  I’ve completed the payment. However, I have a page on wix.com that I had this domain connected to. How do I go about reconnecting it there.

  Once the domain is restored to your account we can point it back to Wix and the site there will work again.

  But in order to point the domain to Wix, you need to be able to access the domain’s settings at My Site ->Domains, and you can only do that if you have a WordPress.com site in your WordPress.com account.

  I’ve emailed our registrar to restore the domain, but you will also need to create a new free WordPress.com site or you won’t be able to use the domain once it’s restored.

  I’ve created a new site: Shanportfolio.wordpress.com.
  What are the next steps for directing to wix?
  When I went to my site and domains shannybreakitdown.com doesn’t come up.

  Thanks for creating the new free site.

  Your site would not have worked when you checked, as your domain had not yet been restored at that point. Now it is restored, and it is showing your Wix site again. So you don’t need to do anything further except remember to renew the domain when it expired in February next year :)
