  Is it possible to use the wordpress domain to build and test and then transfer to a domain I own?

  Hi there,

  You can create your site on a free WordPress.com address, and then you can connect your domain you already own to that site via one of our paid plans and a domain mapping upgrade.

  If you plan host your site somewhere else using the open source version of WordPress, it will be better to build your site at that hosting provider from the start. Sites created on WordPress.com cannot be transferred as-is to other hosting, and you’ll only be able to export content you add here to another site, not your theme, layout, or anything else.
