Domain

I recently purchased a domain with BlueHost – but creating a site there seems very tedious. What are the pros and cons of transferring?

Hi there,
At Bluehost you’d be using the open source WordPress software found on WordPress.org. That software can be a bit daunting if you’re new to WordPress, and you essentially have to do everything yourself with that version of WordPress.
On WordPress.com we use a modified version of that software, so you should find it simpler to use. We also take care of all the technical aspects like security, backups and software updates for you. But WordPress.com has some limitations you don’t have with the open source version, e.g. we don’t give direct access to your site’s source files, some features are only available if you upgrade (to use an existing domain, for example, you need to be on one of our paid plans, and to use plugins you’d need our Business Plan).
You can see a full comparison here:
Before making a decision, I suggest you first create a new free WordPress.com site at https://wordpress.com/start/site/ and play around for it a bit. You can also find a detailed tutorial on how WordPress.com works at https://learn.wordpress.com/
If you do decide to move, note that you won’t be able to transfer your domain to us until you’ve owned it for at least 60 days, but you will be able to point it to us in the meantime:
