  I have my own domain but it’s through godoaddy im worried if I switch I’ll have to pay

  To use your own domain with a site hosted on WordPress.com requires one of our paid plans, yes, regardless of whether you keep the domain registered with GoDaddy and just map it here, or transfer it to us completely.
