Domain

How do I get a specific domain? I used to use goodridgestrength.com through intuit services. When I tried to register this for my http://www.goodridgestrength.webstarts.com account, wordpress said that my domain was already used. Then, I told intuit to drop my domain, and they gave me an authorization code (t]J7d:6R). Now, it is virtually impossible to transfer my domain. I paid wordpress $13 for a mapping domain. I am completely lost. Can you please make http://www.goodridgestrength.wordpress.com show up when people type in http://www.goodridgestrength.com? Thanks.

  • Hi there, in order to map a domain like goodridgestrength.com to a WordPress.com site, there are two options:

    1) If you already registered the domain somewhere else, you can follow our instructions for mapping an existing domain.

    2) If you didn’t already register the domain anywhere else and would like to use WordPress.com as your domain registrar, you can register a new domain with us, which will map it to your WordPress.com site at the same time.

WordPress.com doesn’t accept incoming domain transfers, so if you already registered a domain elsewhere, you’ll need to go with option #1.

I’m not clear whether you already own the domain goodridgestrength.com. According to the domain database, the domain expired on June 24, 2013, and is now in a state called “the redemption period.” That means that it may be possible to renew it, but there is usually an extra fee.

I suggest you get in touch with your domain registrar and try to renew the domain through them as soon as possible. Once your domain is active again, you can follow the instructions I linked to above to map the domain to your WordPress.com site.

If it’s not possible to get your domain out of redemption, you can always register a new domain.

For now, I’ve removed the mapping upgrade you already bought and issued a $13 credit, which will be applied at checkout to your next purchase.

Please let me know if I can help with anything else.
