Domain
-
Info to know: I already have a domain that I bought through google and and currently using weebly for my website.
I want to switch over to wordpress but wordpress requires that we transfer our domain name over first before building the site. Doing this would take down our site temporarily until we built out the wordpress website and launched it. My question is, How can I create a website first on wordpress and then transfer the domain over so my site is never down?

Hi there,
I do not see any sites on your WordPress.com account currently, but you are welcome to start one here: https://wordpress.com/start/
When you create a new site on WordPress.com we assign a “wordpress.com” URL to the site, and you are welcome to use that to get all set up in private. When you are ready to launch you can at that time move your domain from Weebly to WordPress.com and this will essentially replace the Weebly site with the one you have created here (at the same address)
However, you are not required to connect your custom domain early here on WordPress.com. You can do that only when you are ready. Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
