Domain and design in Premium feature

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello,

I would like to ask plenty of things here regarding Premium plans,

    01) If I pick a domain right now can I change that domain later on to something else for instance right now I select http://www.abc.com and once I finish with building my site can I change that http://www.abc.com to some custom domain which I already bought from someone else?

    02) If a CSS has blogs in a portion can I edit that actual code and remove those blog post and replace it with pages? I am pretty sure this needs an internal change in css code so I just want to be sure that it allows it.

    03) What is the exact difference between Basic design Customization and Advance design Customization?

    Thank you

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

If I pick a domain right now can I change that domain later on to something else

The free *.wordpress.com domain can be changed at any time, but if you change away from an address you can’t change back to it.

If you register a custom domain, you buy that domain for a year. Once registered, the domain cannot be changed. It can only be replaced by registering, and paying for, a new domain.

    02) If a CSS has blogs in a portion can I edit that actual code and remove those blog post and replace it with pages?

CSS controls the appearance of your site: the font, colours, borders, backgrounds, the way elements are positioned on the screen. CSS has nothing to do with the posts and pages on your site.

I’m not sure what you mean by replacing posts with pages. Post and pages are two completely different types of content. If you want pages, just create pages at My Site ->Pages, and if you want posts, create them at My Site ->Posts.

    Post vs. Page

    03) What is the exact difference between Basic design Customization and Advance design Customization?

On the Free and Personal plans (basic customization), you can do stuff like set a custom header and background for your site, and select from a set of pre-defined colour schemes if your theme includes them.

On Premium and Business you have more options to change colours on your site, and you have the ability to add custom CSS with which you can completely redesign your theme if you know how. Note that we only provide CSS support for basic changes. If you want to make significant changes to your theme using CSS, you will need to do it yourself or hire a professional web designer to help.
