Domain and website transfer

  I would like to transfer my website from Wix to WordPress, and I’m worried about losing all my content. I also want to redesign the site. Is it possible to do this, and do I just get started with transferring the domain first?

  Hi there,

  You indeed can migrate your site from Wix over to WordPress.com. You would have to select a new theme from WordPress.com because themes from Wix cannot be imported, but the process is pretty straightforward.   Just to check, can I actually, once I have transferred the domain, copy across the content on the pages of my blog to the new WordPress site? I have a substantial blog and do not want to lose old posts…

  Hi there,

  You can import your existing site to your WordPress.com site using our importer at My Site ->Tools ->Import, as explained in the first link staff-doublebassd provided above.

  I recommend that you complete that process before you transfer the domain to us.
