Domain change
-
Good afternoon.
I am trying to change the default wordpress domain address on one of my blogs, so that I can use that original name for a new page. This means I do not want to pay and register for a custom domain name, I simply want to add a word to the domain name for the first (meridian city to: meridiancitynews) and begin a new blog with the original (meridian city.wordpress.com). How can I do this? None of the instructions provided allow for this scenario, though they allow for aliases and mapping. Neither of which I want to do. Please assist as soon as you can.
Much thanks,
Brian MoriThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

WordPress.com URL’s will not work that way. Once a domain has been used by a WordPress.com user, it is not recycled. So if you change away from a URL you want to use, you will not be able to use it again.
What you need to do is to start a new site with the name meridiancitynews.wordpress.com and then use these instructions to export your current site at meridian city.wordpress.com into the new meridiancitynews.wordpress.com:

Ignore the part where it says:
“You can change your current blog URL to another WordPress.com URL with the Changing a Blog Address tool if the URL is still available.”
You do not want to do that in your situation.
