  Hi there, just to expand on this a little, a custom domain name is included in any WPcom upgrade plan you purchase. After the first year, you would pay for the domain renewal and plan renewal separately.

  You can only use a custom domain with a WPcom plan. See our pricing page for more info: https://wordpress.com/pricing/

  If you are having difficulty creating a new free WPcom site that uses either a .wordpress.com or .blog subdomain, let us know where in the process you are getting stuck.
