Domain Expiration

  • Unknown's avatar

My domain expired recently and it’s now in the redemption phase. However, even though I was getting emails, my BlueHost account was showing that the domain was fine. Until today. Now I don’t know how to get my domain back. What do I do?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The domain is http://www.theisraeladventure.com not jnboothby.wordpress.com

  • Hi there,

Your domain expired on 11 December, as was stated in the emails you received. It was still working on Bluehost’s end because it was in the post-expiration grace period. That’s a buffer we give you so you have time to still renew your domain even after it expired.

If you don’t renew your domain during that period it is cancelled and enters redemption, which is what now happened. I should still be able to recover it for you, but our registrar charges a $80 fee to restore a domain from redemption. I’ll need you to agree to that fee before I can get the recovery process started.

Well my bluehost was showing that the domain wasn’t going to expire until the following year for some reason. My problem is that right now I’m currently unemployed. Is there any way to waive the $80 fee? It was an honest mistake. $80 is a lot of money right now that I don’t have.

  • I’ve sent you an email to discuss other options that are be available. Please reply there if you have any more questions.
