Domain expired and/or cancelation

    Waiving late fee on domains (potential).

    Our domain is expired, and the wordpress home page is the only place that I’ve seen any notice. An oversight on our part. We cannot afford the $80 late fee.

    If we cancel the domain, what happens to it? Can we get the name from another host (we like wordpress, but $80 is $80). Would you still hold the rights to the domain name, and we’d be forced to use something else?

    Honestly, had we’d been more astute, we would’ve continued the subscription.

    Hi there, domain expiration is a complicated process with many steps, and we’ve put together a page to explain how it works:

    I don’t suggest cancelling the domain name, since you may never be able to re-register the domain, either through WordPress.com or any other domain registrar.
