Domain from Hostgator

I purchased a domain using Hostgator.com and I paid to have it mapped to my WordPress account as well as set it to be my main site. What else do I need to do so that I can blog from it? The new domain is travelingwithsarah.com.

So, your site, eatingwithsarah.com, is a self-hosted WordPress site that you have connected to WordPress.com via Jetpack.
Since your site is not a WordPress.com site, you would not need any WordPress.com upgrades in order to point a new domain to your existing site. You would just need to purchase that domain from a registrar and follow your webhost’s instructions to set the domain’s nameservers to point to your existing site.
I would be happy to refund your Domain Mapping purchase, as you do not appear to need it. But I just want to make sure that you were not trying to do something like set up a new WordPress.com site.

Thanks for your reply. I have done that, and when I try to go to the new site, I get this:
You can’t get there from here (site_id mismatch error). This happens when an external blog (a self-hosted blog using the Stats plugin) is pointed to WordPress.com by DNS. If you are trying to migrate away from WordPress.com, please update your DNS to point the domain to your own server. Otherwise please contact WordPress.com support and explain what you were trying to do, what steps you took, what you expected to happen, and what actually happened. It’s probably Andy’s fault.I am terribly ignorant on these matters, but basically, I want eatingwithsarah.com to be replaced by travelingwithsarah.com in WordPress. I’m in the process of saving all my posts from EWS and I want to start posting with TWS. How can this be done?

You still have your nameservers for travelingwithsarah.com pointed to WordPress.com. You need to have them set to point to your webhost.
