Domain host

    Hi, we purchased a domain from Godaddy. Should we route it to WordPress or have WordPress manage the domain

    I don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

    Hi there,

    You can use either option. Many folks prefer to have all their website billing under one roof, so if that sounds like you then it makes sense to transfer your domain to us, so that your renewals happen here where your site lives.

    On the other hand, if you manage a portfolio of domains with another provider, it may make your life easier to leave them where they are. In that case you can use domain settings to connect your domain (with GoDaddy) to your site here at WordPress.com.

    The outcome in either event is that your WordPress.com site will use the custom address, and that is what people will see when they visit you on the internet.
