Domain Hosting
-
Hi! Recently purchased my domains with Bluehost.com because I did some research and somehow came to the conclusion that hosting with them would integrate directly with your site.. Now I am realizing I should have just purchased my domains through you guys directly? Please let me know the best way to go about getting my site set up and setting up my Gmail client without having to redo everything in 60 days when I am able to actually transfer domain ownership to your platform.. Thanks!!

Hi there,
Let’s first clarify exactly what you want to do, as I see you don’t have a site with us yet.
Do you just want to make a site with WordPress, or do you specifically want to make a site with us on WordPress.com? Because those are not the same thing.
If you want to use the open source WordPress software, you can host that directly with Bluehost. Just buy a hosting plan from them – they have hosting plans specifically optimized for WordPress hosting – and install WordPress on their servers. Their support will be able to help you with this process.
If you want to host your site with us on WordPress.com instead, first create a new site at https://wordpress.com/start/site/
To use your own domain, you’ll need to upgrade to a paid plan, and then add our domain mapping upgrade to connect the domains here:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/
As long as you point the domain to us using name servers as explained at that link, you’ll be able to add the DNS records required by your email on our end, and if you then later transfer the domain there will be no interruption in service to either your site or the email, as we’ll already be managing the DNS and hosting your site. All that will change at that point is where the domain is registered.
