domain hosting questions

Hi there,
not sure if I should map my domain from my current provider or switch it to wordpress. I’m not very tech savvy but currently trying to build my website using wordpress. My domain with my current host doesn’t expire until July. Also, if I switch it over will that affect my emails (which are through g suite, but all the mx files are on my current domain hosts site). Not sure if this all makes sense. Hoping you can help!

Functionally, it really makes no difference. Both work equally well and will send users to your site when they enter your domain into their browser.
What it really comes down to is if you have opinions on the ease of keeping your site billing in one place (one bill from WordPress.com vs a bill from WordPress.com and a bill from your domain registrar). Or if you have a particular reason to want to use an external registrar (perhaps you have many domains and want to keep them all registered in the same place).
