Domain in park mode

  • Unknown's avatar

I deleted my site and domain from WordPress.com to be hosted by another provider; however, I made the mistake not to update the DN servers and now my domain says that is park at WordPress.com. In addition, if I try to register it saids that it is mapped to variedadeslachelita.wordpress.com. My domain is variedadeslachelita.com

  • Hi there,

When you delete a domain within 96 hours of registration (as you have) it does come on sale again, so that you can purchase it from any company that sells domains to the public. However, there is a 5 day grace period before that happens, which is why you are not able to purchase it at the moment.

If you wish, you can wait for a few more days, and your domain will be available through your provider on or around April 24th.

If you cannot wait, and need to recover your domain as soon as possible, let us know. We have the right to recover the domain during the 5 day grace period, and can have it back in your account for you to connect to your new site.

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.

Thank you for your response. What it would be the cost to recover the domain as soon as posible? If the domain is recovered, could I transfer the domain to my new provider once it is recovered?

    Thank you,

  • Hi there,

What it would be the cost to recover the domain as soon as posible?

    The cost is $18.

If the domain is recovered, could I transfer the domain to my new provider once it is recovered?

No. You’ll have to wait 60 days. In the meantime, you can point it to your new host by changing its DNS settings.

If you don’t want to wait for 60 days, the best way is to wait for a few days for the domain to be released and then register it again through the provider of your choice.

Please recover my domain, I will keep it at WordPress.com for the required time.

    Thank you.

  • I have sent a payment request for the total of $18 to the email address on your account. Once the payment is sent, please reply here to let us know, and we will recover variedadeslachelita.com.

I have made the payment to recover my domain as you requested.

  • Payment received, and variedadeslachelita.com has been recovered as requested!

You can direct the domain elsewhere now by changing its name servers: https://wordpress.com/support/move-domain/change-name-servers/

And, 60 days after registration (a policy imposed on all domain registrars by ICANN), you can transfer the domain to another registrar: https://wordpress.com/support/move-domain/transfer-domain-registration/

Could you help me updating the DNS server. I selected CNAME as the type which caused the subdomain to become mandatory. Nevertheless, I do not have a subdomain. in the Alias or Point to textbox I added the Bluehost domain.

    I need to add ns1.bluehost.com and ns2.bluehost.com.

    Please help.

I would like to use my domain with a Bluehost.com site. In order to do this, I need to point my domain’s name servers to the following:

    ns1.bluehost.com
    ns2.bluehost.com

I have read the support documentation but I have not been able to make it work.
    My domain still shows park.

Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi there,

To update your Name Servers got to “My Sites > Upgrades > Domains”, select your domain, and then click on “Change Your Name Servers & DNS Records”.

From there disable the “Use WordPress.com Name Servers” option and enter Bluehost’s Name Servers in the fields below.

Here’s a screenshot to make things easier:
