Domain is available but it is flagged as taken on the WP site.

    Hello!
    I can’t get started with a website because it says that a domain that I want to use is taken, but I can see it is available on other sites.
    What can I do?
    The domain is ambina.nu
    Very grateful for advice.

    Hi there,

    Where exactly does it say that domain is taken?

    It’s not possible to register .nu domains on WordPress.com, so you will first need to register that domain at a provider who sells them, and then you need to connect it here using the domain mapping upgrade included in all our plans.

    Use a Domain You Already Own (Domain Mapping)

    Thank you for your reply.
    I get the message when I do to WordPress.com, click on get started, then I select what kind of template I would like, after that the site takes me to ‘Let’s get your site and address’, on this page I can fill in the domain I would like, there is a free domain and others that are included in the Premium package. When I fill in ambina.nu in the field it says that the domain is taken. I guess I just have to buy it somewhere else and map it, I thought I could buy it through WordPress when I set up the site.

    You’ll need to buy that domain somewhere else, yes. And then when you get to the domains step, select the Use a domain you already own option.
