  Hello,
  I am having a hard time with my domains and wordpress accounts sinking. I have the domain thousand-petal-lotus.com on bluehost and it says it is registered through wordpress but wont show up on my wordpress account (https://wordpress.com/domains/manage is the page it’s supposed to show on)? If someone could please help me get this figured out as I am new to this and could desperately use some help!

  Hi there,

  I have the domain thousand-petal-lotus.com on bluehost and it says it is registered through wordpress but wont show up on my wordpress account

  thousand-petal-lotus.com was registered through WordPress.com but you cancelled it and deleted your site.

  I’ve managed to restore the domain for you — please create a new site in the same account so I can add it back again. Once I’ve done that, you’ll be able to manage the domain from your account.

  Do you want to transfer it to Bluehost?

  I have created a new site on my account. Thank you so much for restoring the domain for me!

  This domain is currently listed under my domains on my bluehost account. Do I have to transfer it? The only reason I got bluehost was beacause I was told I needed a hosting site so I could upload custom themes to my wordpress site. Is that correct?

  Hi there,

  Thanks for creating a new site. I’ve added the domain back — you can now manage it on your Domains page.

  This domain is currently listed under my domains on my bluehost account. Do I have to transfer it?

  thousand-petal-lotus.com is registered through WordPress.com. If you want to use the domain on a site elsewhere there are two options:

  1. Transfer the domain to Bluehost 60 days after the registration date (2017-04-01):

  https://en.support.wordpress.com/transfer-domain-registration/

  2. Keep the domain with WordPres.com and change the name servers to point to another site:

  https://en.support.wordpress.com/change-name-servers/

  You currently have a WordPress.com site. If you want to upload custom themes, you will need to create a self hosted WordPress.org site. There is more information about the differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org here:

  I’m so confused. I just want to use a custom theme. How do I create a self hosted WordPress.org site instead of a WordPress.com site?

  Have you already purchased a theme (not through WordPress.com)?

  In case you haven’t seen it, we have a Theme Showcase with all our available WordPress.com themes:

  If you tell me what you’re looking for I’ll see if I can find something suitable :) For example, do you want a slider or perhaps large images? Or do you want your site to be focused on writing rather than photography?

  This would involve installing WordPress.org on your own hosting. It’s more hands on than WordPress.com but it does give you more control of which themes you can use.
