Domain Mapping

I have a domain purchased from godaddy and it was mapped to wordpress.com (premium plan). Now I want to use wordpress.org using godaddy hosting and already changed the nameserver to godaddy. It’s already 24 hours since I changed the nameserver but the domain is still redirecting to the old blog at wordpress.com.

I know it takes 24-72 hours for propagation but I’m not sure if I did it correctly or not now.

My question is should I cancel the subscription plan on wordpress.com to completely remove the domain mapping from wordpress? Is this the cause that my domain is still redirecting to my old wordpress.com site?

    Thank you.

Oh by the way, the blog I need help is not the one stated in the forum. It’s a different one.

    Hi there,

My question is should I cancel the subscription plan on wordpress.com to completely remove the domain mapping from wordpress?

I can’t see any purchases on the account you are logged in to, did you use another account? If you no longer need the plan and domain mapping, they can be cancelled from the Manage Purchases page (of the account used to make the purchase):

    https://wordpress.com/me/purchases

Is this the cause that my domain is still redirecting to my old wordpress.com site?

There are two reasons why this might be happening.

    1. The name servers you added to GoDaddy haven’t fully updated yet — as you mentioned, this can take up to 72 hours.

2 Your browser may have cached the ‘connection’ between the domain and your WordPress.com site. Try clearing your browser cache and visiting the domain again. There are instructions for different browsers here:

Let me know how you get on.

    Hello

Thank you for replying my thread. Yes the account is not this one. It’s another account.

The problem is solved now. I just need to wait longer (around 48hrs-72hrs) for everything to be working properly.

Thank you for your help. I think this thread can be closed now :)
