Domain mapping
-
Hi,
I’m switching my blog from wordpress.com to wordpress.org. I am having issues with my site name and the fact that it keeps trying to map to wordpress.com. How can I get this to stop? It’s causing me all kinds of problems. My site is springlakehomestead.com. We deleted the blog in hopes of having the domain mapping be an issue, but I keep running into problems with it. Sometimes I am able to manage to get through to my site, sometimes I am told there are too many redirects and that there is a security issue, and sometimes I am taken to a page that says that the domain mapping is not configured properly and needs an upgrade on the wordpress.COM page. It shouldn’t be going to wordpress.com at all. What can you tell me? -
Hi there,
How long ago did you switch the domain’s name servers back to GoDaddy? If it’s been less than 72 hours it might not have finished updating yet.
Your browser might also still be remembering that the domain used to connect here, and is trying to connect here without having checked if the domain’s location has changed. Clearing your browser cache, and failing that your computer’s DNS cache, should fix that.
If you don’t have an SSL certificate on your domain with GoDaddy you might see security warnings for a few days until the HSTS headers in your browser that tells it to always load the domain over HTTPS, expires.

Thanks. We tried just about everything with no success. Thankfully, we weren’t even able to begin building our site, and we were able to reset everything. Apparently we had some issues while loading some of the programming through the host and the .org side. Everything is cleared up now.
